handmade pure beeswax candles
for every set of “ice blue cubes” purchased, i will make a donation of 50 dollars to the minnesota immigrant rights action committee (mirac).
i am from minnesota and have lived in minneapolis, and still have many friends and loved ones there. I have chosen to support the work that mirac is doing because they are an all-volunteer, grassroots, multiracial and multinational immigrant rights organization doing sustained, on-the-ground work.
mirac fights for legalization for all, an end to immigration raids and deportations, an end to anti-immigrant laws, and full equality in all areas of life.
i have donated the materials and labor for this candle so that every dollar goes directly to support this work.
this set of four ice blue pure beeswax cubes is shaped to resemble blocks of ice, and meant to be melted. the simple geometric form makes for clean edges and a steady burn. as each cube melts down, the corners rise up around the wick.
they are colored with aniline dye and made of white beeswax that has been mechanically filtered for a pale finish while still carrying a soft scent of honey.

this pure beeswax candle was modeled from a full round rope molding used in cabinetry and architectural trim. it is the drippiest candle i make. if part of the pleasure of lighting candles for you is watching how they burn and how they drip, then the rope is for you.

this pure beeswax candle was designed as a three-sided form because i love the way angled edges burn. with three sides, the angles are more acute than a square, and you get taller, sharper peaks rising up around the flame as the center melts down.

this pure beeswax candle is a four-sided obelisk. a square candle burns in a particular way: the corners are furthest from the heat of the wick, and as it melts down you get four distinct points rising up around the flame.

this pure beeswax candle began with a search for the right branch. i spent two days tromping through the woods behind the barn with my clippers and saw, looking for something that interested me, and found nothing.
back at the studio, i noticed the elderberry bush growing just outside the door. its bark was so beautiful and unusual, with all the little grooves and bumps, that i cut a few twigs and used them as my models. these became the very first molds i ever made myself.
the 12-inch elderberry twig has a taller, more pronounced presence and pairs beautifully with the 9-inch elderberry twig.
